The OPNC offers something for every level of surf enthusiast in the communities of Newport Beach and Corona Del Mar. This popular local event attracts surfers of all abilities with pro and amateur divisions for both men and women. All are invited to compete, or just hang out and enjoy some classic September days on the beach in Newport. Op Girls Learn to Ride will also be on hand to give surf lessons to any inspired females who decide it's time to get started.

PRO DIVISIONS
MENS WQS 2 STAR: Open to a field of 144 competing for part of the $25,000 cash prize as well as bragging rights for the next year. Men's competition starts 7:30 am Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005.

WOMENS WQS 1 STAR: Open to a field of 24 competing for part of the lucrative $5,000 cash prize as well as bragging rights for the next year. Women's competition starts 12:50 pm Friday, Sept. 23, 2005.

RECREATIONAL DIVISIONS
RECREATIONAL: The 17TH Annual Newport Beach Surf Championships will include male and female amateur recreational divisions competing for $5,000 in prize product. Recreational divisions begin Saturday Sept. 24th.

OP GIRLS LEARN TO RIDE
Op Girls Learn To Ride is the original series of girls-only action sports clinics, designed to give females of all ages the basic skills and confidence necessary to participate in skateboarding, surfing, motocross, wakeboarding, BMX, mountain biking and snowboarding.
